Paimboeuf site celebrates its 40th anniversary by welcoming more than 1200 visitors

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the construction of the Framatome site at Paimboeuf, an open day was held on Saturday, September 1, 2018.

More than 1200 visitors attended over the course of the day – the friends and family of employees, as well as retired former employees – for an event prepared by site volunteers.

This sociable and highly anticipated event allowed visitors, young and old, to discover or rediscover the production workshops, the products made and the variety of careers within the industry.

A great time was had by all:

«I had the opportunity to visit the Paimboeuf Framatome site during an open house day. The visit was really interesting. I learnt a lot on what employees do, their know-how. Thanks for welcoming us. It was really great ”said Nathalie, an employee’s guest.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the plant, there was also an exhibition on its history and development, which delved into the memories and origins of a site that is currently experiencing major expansion.

This exhibition is due to go on tour to the La Défense and Lyon sites this autumn. Before then, however, you can relive the history of the site's construction and major developments via video.

Framatome Paimboeuf, a site experiencing major expansion

For 40 years, the Paimboeuf plant (Loire-Atlantique) has been producing zirconium tubes and bars for the manufacture of fuel assemblies. Its employees work on a daily basis to deliver safe, high-quality products, making this plant a global leader in zirconium tube manufacture.

In line with the Framatome Strategic Action Plan, the site is continuing its industrial development with a target production capacity of 10,000 keq/year (kilometer equivalent) of zirconium tubes. It aims to achieve this through several drivers:

- a major investment plan,

- the deployment of production teams at the weekend to help handle the increase in workload,

- operational performance and continuous improvement,

- an ambitious recruitment plan (100 new recruits in the period 2017-2018), alongside a skills management plan.

Key figures

- Site founded: 1978

- 385 employees as of August 31, 2018

- Prospective workload in 2018: production of more than 8,200 km equivalent of zirconium tubes, which would be a first for the Paimboeuf site
