CHARLOTTE, N.C., November 6, 2015 – AREVA Inc. recently donated funds for new laptops for the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) program at the Charlotte Engineering Early College (CEEC) in celebration of Nuclear Science Week.

CEEC teachers will use the MacBook Air laptops in the classroom as they introduce students to nuclear science and engineering, and other STEM-related topics. AREVA’s donation totaled more than $7,500.

“AREVA is a proud partner of the Charlotte Engineering Early College and its work to educate and to encourage the next generation of STEM professionals,” said Fariba Gartland, vice president of plant engineering for Installed Base Projects at AREVA Inc. “These efforts are helping to instill a dedication to operational excellence in the workforce that is vital to tomorrow’s clean energy economy.”

“Charlotte Engineering Early College appreciates AREVA’s financial support and partnership,” said Will Leach, principal of CEEC. “We look forward to further developing our relationship and working together to support the future workforce.”

AREVA has been an active partner of CEEC since it opened in August 2014. The company’s employees have served on the CEEC advisory board and as guest speakers, discussing engineering careers with students.

Last year, AREVA and its employees contributed more than $1.8 million and more than 3,000 volunteer hours to charitable organizations and educational institutions in the communities where it operates.
