Nuclear Island – Technical Coordination Lead

Edvance is a joint venture between EDF (80%) and Framatome (20%), an EPCC established in 2018 in charge of the design (basic design) and the realization (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.

We are continually recruiting for our Sizewell C project and currently recruiting for a Nuclear Island Technical Coordination Lead.

The NI TCL is a specific role, undertaking the overall coordination within Architect teams on all configuration subjects, daily communicating with architects and responsible engineers and with the SZC (Sizewell C) configuration management team.

The Sizewell C Nuclear Island Technical Coordination Lead (NI TCL) is a product-oriented position, accountable for managing the coordination and integration of the Nuclear Island Architect scope (Electrical & Diesels/ NI Auxiliaries/ Primary and Secondary circuit) and related Open Points (OP), Referential Evolutions (RES) and Design Change (DC). The NI TCL is a specific role of undertaking the overall coordination within Architect teams on all configuration subjects, daily communicating with architects and responsible engineers and with the SZC configuration management team

Key objective of the role:
The Technical Coordinator Lead will ensure the overall configuration management for the SZC project from NI aspect, managing and administrating the NI related DC and OP databases/tools.
The key duties, responsibilities and deliverables are as follows:

• Work with the different Architect team members to ensure all aspects of the NI contributions are properly integrated and managed
• Support the Architects and responsible engineers, ensuring the resolution of the transverse technical issues impacting several buildings/disciplines/contracts that cannot be solved at a lower level
• Actively verifying updates in SZC-DC and SZC-OP databases, ensuring the DC and OP progress and responsibility are timely reached
• Work in partnership with the Configuration Manager to drive the design stability to maximize the replication and next of a kind effect
• Perform close monitoring of the HPC NI design changes, arising both in the RD back-office and JDO, and engage with relevant discipline leads when the replicability of the change is at dispute
• Reinforce the change process to make sure it is correctly being applied and considered
• Contribute to the preparation of the No Change Committee (NCC) on NI topics
• Contribute to internal quality control to confirm the consistency of the OP and DC
• Support the technical departments in the Design Replication Justification process.

The proposed position is functionally and operationally attached to the SZC Senior Architect Electrical. It requires close collaborating with the Architects and the Sizewell C Project Manager.

This is a crucial role within the business and the SZC project and therefore to be considered we requires the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Extensive experience in Engineering, capable of interfacing with technical stakeholders
• Strong experience of nuclear or complex industrial projects
• Background in EPR technology, in particular FA3 or HPC project is desirable
• Experience in technical configuration coordination

Technical skills Required:

• Technical knowledge of engineering processes and disciplines
• Able to work independently but also as part of a team
• Able to take advice on technical decisions with support from responsible engineers and project superiors
• Good level of communicating and reporting
• Experience in similar large and complex project(s) such as the EPR (desired)
• Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders
• Ability to set, achieve and maintain high standards of safety and quality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Fluent in French is a distinct advantage
