Overview

An our Hazard Technical Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for Nuclear Safety study, Radiation Protection and the environment.

Through a secondment to Edvance UK – joint venture with Framatome and EDF – your initial role will be to contribute to the completion of the Hinkley Point C design phase.

You are

Main responsibilities

Technical Leadership activities:

  • Technical leadership for hazards activities and the hazards team
  • Dealing with open points and associated technical issues
  • Integrating feedback from other EPR projects
  • Preparing the next projects, for example Sizewell C

Hazard Studies:

  • From Flamanville 3 feedback and analysis of the UK modifications, proposing changes/optimisations to the Layout Teams in order to de-risk at an early stage, the design related to hazard protection requirements
  • Integration of all hazard studies in the design.

Verification Studies Analysis:

From input data supplied by architect engineering (list of classified equipment), by systems engineering (description of plant main systems), and by the 3D model:

  • Producing studies relating to Internal hazards and External hazards.
  • Producing simplified design calculation hypotheses and define the various possible scenarios for each internal or external threat situation:
  • Identifying the equipment under threat and also the way in which the equipment would be affected
  • Producing studies on the functional redundancies impacted.

Layout changes:

  • Relaying to the building general layout the changes to be made to the general layout, highlighted by the functional analysis studies completed by architect engineering
  • Presenting the results of these studies regularly to the project teams.

 

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Degree qualified engineer (preferably Mechanical or Electrical)

  • Experience in the area of hazard studies, systems, layout engineering and pipework

  • Good knowledge of safety requirements for an EPR project, preferably Hinkley Point C

  • Fluent in English

  • Hazard activities requires to take a strategic view with good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels requiring to write clearly-expressed and well-presented reports
