We are currently looking to find a highly skilled nuclear Piping Calculations Engineer to join our team.

The position will see you begin your career with Framatome on assignment to our joint venture with EDF called EDVANCE and you would be based in Aztec West (Bristol).  There is a requirement to be in the office 3 days per week.

Reporting in to the Piping and Equipment Team Lead you would have the opportunity to work in a multi-discipline team with colleagues from multiple different organisations who are working on the EDVANCE project.

The key contractual elements for this opportunity include:

The key aim of your role is to support the design of 70 km piping network of the Nuclear Island for HPC EPR project. As part of a team you will need to make sure that the pipe network and associated supports have been appropriately designed by performing piping calculations. 

 

 

You are

 

Your day to day will include, but not be limited to, tasks like:

 

  • Gathering input data, analysing/updating hypothesis notes and loading description reports

  • performing the piping flexibility calculations and calculation of piping supports

  • analysing the mechanical behaviour of the piping network with respect to the codified criteria,

  • proposing appropriate and proportionate modifications in case the sizing criteria are not met

  • producing technical assessment note

  • updating the calculation notes

  • coordinating and collaborating with design teams, project managers across the business including teams in France and Germany.

 

Some of the core attributes we anticipate in high calibre candidates for this position include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • several (~5) years experience in designing and analysing piping systems
  • understanding and experience with industry codes and standards such as ASME BPV code section III, RCC-M (section C3650) and EN 13480
  • Experience with piping stress analysis software cuch as CESAR II, ANSYS, CALTUY/Pipestress or equivalent
  • strong communication and collaboration skills
  • excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • knowledge of safety protocols and guidelines specific to the nuclear industry
  • high level of attention to detail.

Prior nuclear experience is not essential however the ability and willingness to learn is essential.  If you are open to learn, we are open to teach.
