Cybersecurity threats: How industries maintain optimal security conditions and protect critical industrial assets

September 22, 2022 | 1 min |

A recent study published by Ponemon Institute, reveals that approximately 60% of cyberattacks are due to unpatched vulnerabilities, causing production shutdowns of industrial operations for several weeks.  The recent DESFA cyberattack in Greece bears witness to the fact that no company is completely immune to such attacks.

With growing threats and new regulatory requirements, critical industries like nuclear energy are forced to take additional action to protect their IT security systems. Vigilance in assessing the lines of defense for industrial assets is dire to maintain optimal security conditions and business continuity. That is why operators turn to Framatome.

“Framatome’s cybersecurity teams are experts in cybersecurity, with solid industrial experience and proven performance,” says Hervé Bury, in charge of the industrial park and the industrial information system cybersecurity for the Installed Base Business Unit at Framatome. “They deploy a sustainable, pragmatic and cost-effective approach for industrial cybersecurity.”

As an international leader in the nuclear industry, Framatome designs and develops cybersecurity solutions for information, industrial and instrumentation and control systems in the frame of both nuclear and non-nuclear infrastructure and facilities. Framatome relies on its instrumentation and control expertise and technological partnerships. With its recent acquisitions of FoxGuard Solutions and Cyberwatch, Framatome now provides end-to-end industrial vulnerability and patch management solutions. Its security condition maintenance program provides a global and continuous overview of vulnerabilities with detection, prioritization, and remediation capabilities.

Security and business continuity are achieved through cybersecurity best practices. In the September issue of Railway News, Railway Cybersecurity – The Pressing Need and Where to Start, takes the first steps in addressing risk mitigation for the rail transportation industry.
