Framatome Inc. names 2018 Engineer of the Year award recipients

Framatome Inc. recently announced the recipients of its annual Engineer of the Year awards. The company-wide awards honor employees in North America who have achieved engineering excellence through notable achievements in their profession and the company’s engineering activities.

“At Framatome, excellence is an expectation. Every day we come to work and challenge ourselves, our peers and the industry to be better,” said Gary Mignogna, CEO of Framatome Inc. “Our industry demands innovation and performance. Our award recipients have demonstrated both. We're very proud to have them on our team."

Nithian Nithianandan, based in Lynchburg, Va., was selected as Framatome Inc.’s 2018 Engineer of the Year for developing new methods and guiding projects involving thermal-hydraulic system code and theory. These codes analyze nuclear power plant safety systems and demonstrate the system’s ability to perform in the case of an event. Nithian has displayed individual drive and curiosity in his field that led to exceptional results throughout the year, and his career.

In addition to the overall Engineer of the Year, Framatome Inc. recognizes Engineers of the Year in each business unit. This year, all the recipients are based at the company’s Lynchburg, Va. facilities. Those recognized in their business unit include:

Framatome’s Engineers of the Year in North America are nominated by their peers. From those nominations, business leaders and senior executives representing all business units select finalists and the Engineer of the Year. Nominees are evaluated based on their contributions to their business unit during the year and how well they exemplify operational excellence through their commitment to safety, quality, performance, delivery, innovation and community involvement.

On Dec. 31, 2017, New NP, part of the company previously known as AREVA NP, was sold to the EDF group (75.5 percent), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (19.5 percent) and Assystem (5 percent). In January 2018, New NP became Framatome, a leader in the nuclear energy market with a focus on servicing and fueling today’s fleet and advancing nuclear energy.
