Core Components Cutting - DC3 - for Interim Storage or Final Disposal
Main description
Disposing of irradiated core components, such as Rod Control Cluster Assembly (RCCA) and dummy rods, is often a large challenge. Framatome’s Device for Core Components Cutting (DC³) is the solution. After installation in an existing rack, for example the cask loading pool, DC³ cuts all necessary rods simultaneously. The cut-off segment can then be loaded directly into the waste canister without additional handling. Thanks to its compact design, DC³ brings flexibility for implementation and use. Savings on waste canisters will also be seen due to the optimized cutting process used by DC³.
