Climate change impact, human factors: industrial challenges shared within the FROG

October 31, 2023 | 1 min |

The members of the  Framatome Reactors Owners Group (FROG) have just met in Finland for their annual steering committee. An agenda focused on the sharing of operational experience as well as on future strategic and technical orientations. Discussions also highlighted new challenges faced by our industry.

FROG members met for three days in Rauma, a few kilometers from the Olkiluoto power plant in southwestern Finland. This annual meeting was an opportunity to share the main operational highlights over the last twelve months but also the current projects. Lively exchanges greatly appreciated by members, as they contribute to enrich their own operational experience as nuclear operators. Framatome’s Technical Leaders presented the findings of the technical working groups they lead throughout the year with the FROG members.

For this 56th edition, members were also able to discuss the current challenges of our industry: operational impacts of climate change, management of human factors, implementation of digital transformation and projects to extend the operating time. Shared elements - internal programs, benchmarks, innovations, etc. - give rise to new workshops and feed into the work of the working groups.

“Since 1991, FROG has enabled its members to access Framatome’s expertise and share with their counterparts around the world.” says Bruno Chaudet, General Secretary of FROG. “FROG’s strength is undeniably based on rich and regular exchanges between our members, allowing strong cooperation and mutual assistance, with the common ambition of safe, reliable and competitive energy production.»

In the coming months, the working groups will continue their activities and members will continue their exchanges through the online forum and regular meetings.
