Waste Decontamination
Main description
In the nuclear context, decontamination is the process of removing radioactive contaminants that have accumulated on equipment in nuclear facilities and is a crucial step during operation and in decommissioning of nuclear facilities. It involves the removal of radioactive materials from surfaces, equipment, and structures to reduce the risk of exposure to radiation and reach free release level if possible.
Two different aims can be pursued with decontamination: decontamination for reuse and decontamination for clearance. Framatome offers decontamination booths and boxes, cleaning bathes optionally equipped with ultrasonic, electrochemical methods, sand blasting systems and high-pressure water jet application to decontaminate your equipment in the right way.
These are methods to decontaminate surfaces, but Framatome also offers volume decontamination methods, like evaporation (see also there). Framatome supports customers during the whole project phase of your decontamination installation project.
Our experienced team supports you with planning, design, procurement & implementation of the decontamination system in your place.
