Passive solutions design/analyses for new plants

Plants are mostly designed with active (powered) systems: easy for testing, they are susceptible to loss of power with potential emergency scenarios. Some passive systems are expected by operators for systems potentially leading to LOCA or loss of heat removal. Framatome developed passive solutions that are combined to existing active system e.g. passive shutdown seal for primary coolant pump or passive pool cooling. Because we designed active safety system, we are now able to propose efficiently redundant passive solutions.
