Record attendance at the 5th Framatome Innovation Days!

Thanks to all of you, you were nearly 3000 to discover through webinars, contests, and exhibitions more than 60 innovations in May 2023: a participation twice as 2022!

During the exhibitions «Shape the Future», 1500 of us exchanged with our innovators in Paris, Chalon, Lynchburg, Lyon, Le Creusot, Grenoble and Erlangen. Our experts showed visitors their latest innovations in robotics, advanced tooling, digital, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and additive manufacturing from our sites in the United States, France and Germany.

“We can say that innovation travels and crosses sites and borders,” said Frederic Lelievre SEVP Sales, regional platforms and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Business Unit.

In Chalon, Saint Marcel and Le Creusot, a tailor-made program for EDF: site visits in addition to exchanges with experts on innovations. «This experience rich in exchanges and concrete discoveries of the modes of manufacturing, control and maintenance of the large components of our plants was exceptional» said Renon Crinon, Engineer-Researcher of EDF-R&D Saclay who adds «We measure our luck, having been able to witness the beginning of the forging of a cold branch in the workshops of Le Creusot».

In Lyon, Nathalie Millard-Pinard and Achment Chalil from Claude Bernard University and Emmanuelle Vidal-Sallé from the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) attended a VIP tour at “le SPOT” (Innovation Lab) on a wide range of our innovations with very intensive exchanges with experts. To ensure the future of nuclear energy, engineering training centers were presented to them around the “Learning by Doing” concept with the I&C DOJO and the Design School, the new training standard at Framatome,” as Elisabeth Terrail, Director of Human Resources, points out.

Also, in Lyon, a Sprint Hackathon was carried out within le Spot to imagine the use cases around microreactors.

During these days, the innovation competitions rewarded many winners of innovation contests of different BU’s and for its 1st edition, from Framatome Innovation Awards contest. The latter rewarded the creators of most promising and emblematic innovations of each BU and support functions. Innovation is essential to remain competitive. With this Framatome-wide innovation competition, we want to reward women and men who innovate daily to meet societal, industrial and organizational performance and competitiveness challenges for our customers. The dynamics of innovation in the field of human resources were also highlighted.
