Your missions

We are looking for an expert engineer in hot cells or shielded cells teleoperated for nuclear applications.

For its customers, Framatome has been contributing for several decades to various projects of design and realization of remote operated shielded cells: for the R&D of research centers, for the processing of nuclear fuel, for dismantling in hostile environments or for military activities.

Currently, Framatome is involved in several important «cell» projects and other projects are planned in the short term.
In this context, the hot cell engineer will be responsible for participating in all the “cell” projects and providing expertise.

The main objectives are:
• definition of technical guidelines
• identification of risks, mitigation actions and opportunities
• conducting specific studies and producing technical checks
• participation in design reviews
• formalisation of technical opinions
• preparation of responses to Call for Tenders
• management of activities in the field of the cell including R&D related to the topic

The contribution of expertise will be expected on all technical areas constituting the “hot cell object” and on all phases of the project (Pre-Project and Project Studies, Specification Activities, Vendor Contract Preparation, Vendor Monitoring for Execution Studies, Manufacturing, Assembly, Testing, Commissioning and Operation or Operational Support).

As part of these missions, the hot cell expert engineer will be functionally attached to the head of the AMOA section and dismantled from the Specialized Engineering department. He/she will interact with the different technical managers of the projects but also with the different engineering engineers in charge of the engineering activities.

The field of interaction is not limited to the reporting entity and the hot cell engineer will have to have discussions with all the technical trades involved (mechanical analysis, safety, civil engineering, electricity, CC, HVAC, etc.).

The hot cell engineer is the guarantor of the technical choices made by Framatome on the subject of hot cells.
In this context, the engineer(e) expert in hot cells is led to go to the Lyon site of Framatome. Depending on the projects in which he/she participates, occasional trips to different sites (e.g. Marcoule, Creys-Malville, Cadarache, Paris region) are to be planned.

You are

With a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 20 years of experience in the field of nuclear engineering, you benefit from expertise in the design and follow-up of hot cells for nuclear applications.

This expertise must come from participating in cell creation projects with an overall level of responsibility that has enabled you to address the various aspects and related issues (general installation, processes and waste management, remote operation and maintenance, confinement and radiation protection, ventilation, safety and sectorisation, principle of design of walls, slabs and embedded parts, interfaces between suppliers, manufacture/assembly).

You have at least one experience leading up to the commissioning or operation of the facility. It is indeed important that your positions can be supported by concrete cases encountered in reality.

Moreover, knowledge of at least one of the French nuclear contractors would be an asset.
You particularly appreciate the technical, you like to analyse problems in detail to propose robust and realistic solutions. You know how to highlight your results and argue to defend your technical positions in order to convince the customer.

You are also open-minded, recognized for your availability with the teams and you benefit from easy contact and clear communication allowing you to transmit the technical elements and respond favourably to all requests. You are comfortable writing documents and memos that allow you to document your technical positions.

Finally, the position is likely to involve you in National Defence-related activities with associated constraints.
