Framatome selected by US nuclear power plant to provide incore instrumentation

June 21, 2023 | 1 min |

June 21, 2023 – Framatome announced it has been awarded a contract to manufacture and deliver incore instrumentations (ICIs) for a U.S. nuclear plant. The award marks the third campaign of Framatome ICIs since 2014 for this plant, one of the nation’s largest power producers. The contract also establishes consistency of supply for the plant, and cost management for long-lead materials for the instrumentation that is essential for plant operation.

“Framatome continues to play a strategic role helping U.S. utilities safely extend their plant operations and reach their carbon reduction goals,” said Frédéric Lelièvre, senior executive vice president of Sales, Regional Platforms and Instrumentation and Control at Framatome. “We are honored to be chosen to provide yet another campaign of ICIs at this plant and eager to continue delivering solutions that help our U.S. customers prepare for the clean energy future.”

The Framatome ICIs provide 24-hour monitoring and online assessment of the plant’s core safety measurements in real time, improving operational flexibility. This capability increases the overall guidance to operators and improves their ability to navigate transient conditions and to detect and diagnose core anomalies. Framatome ICIs are reliable due to their inherently simple design and no need for an external power supply. Backed by more than 60 years of global nuclear industry experience, Framatome designs and manufactures ICIs at its facility in Lynchburg, Va.
