Your missions

The role involves working as part of an expert team on both industrial research consortia and single client consultancy projects.  Multiple projects may be operating at once, and so the engineer must be strongly self-motivated and able to organise themselves and to plan and prioritise work to meet different project deadlines.

 

  • This role is based in Cranfield, UK).

  • 37.5 Hour work week

Required Attributes:

The role requires the engineer to hold an MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline, with a solid knowledge of fluid dynamics and a technical specialisation in one or more of the following:

  • Industrial process mixing
  • Process intensification
  • Complex rheology fluids
  • Industrial chemistry

 

The main responsibilities will be:

  • Work safely with peers and follow all internal company procedures
  • Design experiments in conjunction with the appropriate project manager
  • Prepare budget estimates (time and materials) and monitor spend
  • Prepare (with appropriate support) and perform experiments
  • Store results according to appropriate procedures and perform data analysis and interpretation
  • Discuss results with project manager before presenting results to clients and producing appropriate documentation (presentations and technical reports)
  • Contribute to “desk-based” consultancy projects, helping customers address process engineering related issues
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the laboratory facilities
  • Develop technical knowledge through both discussions with more experienced members of the team, and through appropriate courses/events/training where relevant and approved

 

Desired Attributes:

Knowledge of the following software packages:

  • Programming skills (VBA / python / Labview)
  • Knowledge and experience of the capabilities of CFD techniques and experience of using the software.
