Framatome and Bulgarian Technical University to Collaborate on Education and Training

May 2, 2024 – Framatome announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Technical University of Sofia (TU-Sofia) to explore and pursue collaborative opportunities in education and training in the field of nuclear energy.

“Framatome is pleased to sign this MoU with the Technical University of Sofia and further contribute to supporting Bulgaria’s nuclear industry,” said Bernard Fontana, CEO of Framatome. “Framatome has worked with the Kozloduy nuclear power plant for over 20 years and recently signed a contract to supply fuel to Kozloduy 6. Today’s MoU marks our commitment to collaborate with Bulgaria on a wide range of education and training opportunities.”

Within the scope of the agreement, Framatome and TU-Sofia will work together on educational content for nuclear engineering students and to promote the attractiveness of nuclear engineering courses in Bulgaria. Faculty members will take part in scientific visits to Framatome premises and factories, and internships will be offered to master’s students.

“Framatome is delighted to sign this MoU with the Technical University of Sofia,” said Elisabeth Terrail, Senior Executive Vice President, Human Resources at Framatome. “Our collaboration will enhance the program offered by the university and help attract and train students for long-term careers in nuclear energy.”

This MoU reflects Framatome’s support of the nuclear energy sector in Bulgaria and illustrates its commitment to developing industry expertise for a safe, reliable, low-carbon energy future.
