Framatome’s Executive Committee is placed under the responsibility of its Chairman of the Managing Board and Chief Executive Officer, Bernard Fontana: an experienced leadership team aligned on core values and a single vision for Framatome:

Shareholding structure

Framatome is owned by the EDF Group (75.5%), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI – 19.5%) and Assystem (5%).

Bernard Fontana – Framatome CEO

On September 1, 2015, Bernard Fontana joined the AREVA group and was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Framatome.

He manages all Framatome Business Units and the Sales/Regional Platforms, Operational Excellence, Safety/Environment/Protection, Human Resources, Offers and Projects and Program Management Office.

Bernard Fontana holds a degree in engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées in Paris. He has 30 years’ experience in the chemical, steel and building materials industries (SNPE, ArcelorMittal, APERAM and Holcim). From February 2012 to September 2015, he served as CEO of Holcim Ltd., ensuring the company’s successful fusion with Lafarge.

Grégoire Ponchon – Managing Director, member of the Managing Board

  • A degreed engineer with internal auditing experience prior to becoming Chief Financial Officer at Framatome
  • 20 years of  industrial experience (within the Renault and AREVA Groups, and Framatome)
  • Promoted to Chief Financial Officer of Framatome in 2017, following  a career as Chief Financial Officer of La Hague, Recycling, Installed Base and the Instrumentation and Control Business Units

Catherine Cornand - Senior Executive Vice President, Installed Base Business Unit

  • Over 20 years of experience in the management of large projects for the defence area (Rafale and Barracuda programs) and the nuclear civil industry (Flamanville 3 EPR Project)
  • Offer Director for the French nuclear submarine segment at Naval Group
  • Her latest job has been Deputy Director of the Nuclear Propulsion Division at CEA, the French Authority for Nuclear Energy

Lionel Gaiffe – Senior Executive Vice President, Operational Excellence and Fuel Business Unit

  • 25 years’ experience in the nuclear industry (fuel cycle and MOX fuel)
  • Former head of Operations of the AREVA Fuel Manufacturing activities


Frédéric Lelièvre – Senior Executive Vice President, Sales, Regional Platforms and Instrumentation and Control Business Unit

  • 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications (Alcatel-Lucent) and the energy industry (CEA, AREVA Recycling BU)
  • Former AREVA Vice Commercial Officer

Alexis Marincic – Senior Executive Vice President, Engineering & Design Authority

  • 30 years’ experience in the nuclear industry
  • Negotiation of the ATMEA Shareholder agreement, in charge of the conceptual design of the ATMEA 1 reactor

Jean-Bernard Ville – Senior Executive Vice President, Projects and Components Manufacturing Business Unit

  • 20 years’ experience in the project management for large projects in the marine and airport construction infrastructures and in the nuclear field
  • Former head of the Front End business major investments

Vincent Champain – Senior Executive Vice President, Digital and Information Technology

  • Over 20 years of experience in the design, development,or and implementation of digital transformations and performance plans
  • Director of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Forecasting; responsible for assessing public policies and the development of the digital economy.
  • Chief Operating Officer of GE France. Previously, creator and president of GE Digital Services Europe.
